CLIENT: BAY ROCK RESIDENTIAL, OAKLAND, CA
Location: “Oak Walk” mixed-use condominium community incorporating existing, historic bungalow-style buildings with new architecture of 120-units, and retail space. A historic California oak tree was preserved at the site according to City requirements, and formed the basis for the site identity.
Assignment: Fulfill City of Emeryville’s public art requirement.
Budget: $95,000
Proposal: Build upon the project name and utilize arts and crafts style fabrication and aesthetic in choice of art and implementation. Recommendation was made to design and fabricate garage screening and signage suitable to the site.
Implementation: Artistic team sourced by Karen Eichler Fine Art provided fabrication and art design. To optimize the budget, artists with extensive fabrication experience in public art projects were commissioned.
