Claremont Country Club
Client: CLAREMONT COUNTRY CLUB, OAKLAND, CA
Location: The Claremont Country Club is a private golf club established at the turn of the century in the Oakland hills.
Assignment: Propose art installations in keeping with the traditional, clubby atmosphere of the newly renovated formal dining room, bar/lounge and President’s game room.
Budget: None agreed upon. Total to date: $25,000 and ongoing.
Proposal: The Claremont Country Club maintains a history room with photographs, trophies and memorabilia. I proposed using historical photographs, paintings and trophies while building upon the Scottish origins of golf. Tartan backdrops for historic trophies were created to describe events of importance to generations of Club members. An installation of a kilt and sporum worn during an annual tournament by a beloved golf pro was designed. Hand-tinted photos from the 1950’s were restored and framed to accent a historic, restored oil painting of a respected Club President.
Implementation: Source and supervise engravers, framers, upholsterers, painting restorers, photo restorers, art lighting and art installation to achieve highest quality end result. Collaborate with design architect, interior designer, and CCC members.
