PROJECT NAME: Glashaus
CLIENT: PULTE HOMES, PLEASANTON, CA
LOCATION: Glashaus is a mixed-use condominium community consisting of 310 units in two phases located at 65th & Hollis in Emeryville. In the immediate neighborhood is Emeryville Tech, Charles Chocolates, Novartis and Bayer pharmaceutical, mass transit, and neighborhood coffee shops and restaurants.
ASSIGNMENT: Fulfill the City of Emeryville’s public art requirement.
BUDGET: $120,000.00
PROPOSAL: Karen Eichler Fine Arts recommended building upon site name; a former glass manufacturing facility. KEFA recommended the installation of a glass awning to the design architect and Pulte’s marketing team. A local artist and international glass fabricator were commissioned after a RFP and design competition run by Karen Eichler Fine Art.
IMPLEMENTATION: Source and interface with artist (local), glass fabrication studio (Germany), design architect, project manager, structural engineers, metal fabricators, glass installers, City of Emeryville public art authorities and inspectors, Pulte Homes marketing and public relations managers. In addition, Pulte Homes developed marketing communications and brochures using images of the awning.
